Purpose of an Initial Assessment

The purpose of an initial assessment is to determine initial responses of a Child Safety Concern.

The organisation receiving the Child Safety Concern must make the 3 primary decisions at this point:

  1. Does the information received in the concern constitutes a Child Safety Concern for the organisation?
  2. Does the organisation need to respond immediately for the safety of personnel and children? Including contacting Law enforcement, or Children Services.
  3. Does the organisation require a more comprehensive assessments in order to determine appropriate responses.
